Inline Automatic PP Strapping Machine: High-Speed Bundling Installation on a Small-Box Line

This case study covers the installation of the AMB 1500 inline automatic PP strapping machine on a line producing small corrugated boxes. It shows how 28 straps per minute, touch-panel auto-setting, and durable servo direct drive perform on a small-box line.

The Strapping Challenge on Small-Box Lines

Plants that produce small corrugated boxes have to ship a large number of bundles in the same amount of time. The smaller each box, the more often bundles are formed, and if the strapping process cannot keep pace, box bundles start piling up at the end of the line.

In this case, the AMB 1500 inline automatic PP strapping machine was installed on a small-box line to automate the strapping process. The items being strapped are not packaged goods but the finished corrugated box bundles themselves.

Inline Integration with the Existing Line via S-Model Side Feeding

This line uses the side-feed AMB 1500 S. The S model receives box bundles alongside the existing production line and straps them in place, so it can be integrated inline without significantly changing the line flow. For sites that require a standalone layout, the top-feed T model is the better fit.

28 Straps per Minute Keeps Bundles Flowing

The AMB 1500 can strap up to 28 times per minute. Even on small-box lines where bundles are formed frequently, it keeps the flow moving so strapping never becomes a bottleneck. With 9-axis full-servo drive and servo tension control, the PP strap wraps each bundle with consistent force every time, keeping strapping quality uniform across shipping bundles.

Frequent Size Changes Handled by Touch-Panel Auto-Setting

On small-box lines, box sizes change frequently depending on the order. The AMB 1500 features Korea's first full-servo automatic auto-setting technology: select a size on the touch panel and the machine sets itself up automatically. Compared with manual adjustment, each changeover saves 10–30 minutes, a clear benefit for high-mix production sites.

The Value of Equipment That Keeps Running

Since installation, durability has been the most noticeable benefit on site. Because it uses servo direct drive, there are none of the air leaks or cylinder wear common to pneumatic systems, and with wear and consumable parts kept to a minimum, minor breakdowns are rare. Korea's first overload prevention control system also supports stable long-term operation. Designed and manufactured in Korea, the equipment is backed by the people who built it, from start to finish.
